This monograph presents Joseph Rodriguez’s photographs made while he worked as a taxi driver in New York City between 1977 and 1987. Documenting passengers and street life across the city’s downtown, midtown, and uptown neighborhoods, the work portrays working-class New Yorkers, LGBTQ communities, sex workers, clubgoers, drug users, and others navigating a period marked by economic crisis and crime. The Economic Hardship Reporting Project provided funding for the book.
