This monograph revisits Joseph Rodriguez’s Spanish Harlem project, made in New York City’s El Barrio during the 1980s. Drawing on newly unearthed images and a re-edited selection from the series, the book portrays the neighborhood and its residents through photographs that address grit, elegy, celebration, pride, and looming cataclysm.
