This book collects Gino Germani’s contributions to the advice column “Psychoanalysis Will Help You,” published in the Argentine women’s magazine Idilio from 1948 to 1951, alongside a selection of Grete Stern’s photomontages and facsimiles of magazine pages. Readers from working- and middle-class backgrounds submitted dreams that Germani interpreted through psychoanalysis and Stern visualized through photomontage. Together, their work reveals the psychological pressures placed on women under the domestic and social ideals promoted by the magazine during Argentina’s Peronist era.
