William Eggleston and Walter Hopps traveled across the U.S. between 1965 and 1974, with Eggleston capturing photographs and Hopps driving. Their collaboration birthed the Los Alamos project, which eventually became a set of five portfolio boxes of dye-transfer prints. Though initially intended for a large exhibition, the plan was scrapped, leading to a division of negatives. After Hopps’ death in 2005, additional negatives were found and catalogued. In 2011, William Eggleston III and Mark Holborn reevaluated these negatives, resulting in Los Alamos Revisited, a three-volume set including previously lost material and an essay by Thomas Weski.
