Larry Sultan's book compiles three pivotal series: "Pictures from Home", "The Valley", and "Homeland", all rooted in the San Fernando Valley, his childhood locale. The collection delves into Sultan's personal history, capturing his parents and their reflection of the American Dream. Extending this introspection, Sultan photographed suburban homes used in the adult film industry and portrayed Latino day laborers engaged in mundane tasks around these settings, reflecting his quest for identity and freedom. The book accompanies an exhibition at Hannover's kestnergesellschaft, includes an essay by curator Martin Germann, and is co-published with Galerie Thomas Zander and kestnergesellschaft.
