"In the American West: Photographs by Richard Avedon" is a landmark photography book originally published in 1985 to accompany an exhibition at the Amon Carter Museum in Texas. Celebrated for its classic American photography, the book is reissued in 2025 to mark its 40th anniversary. Avedon spent five years capturing portraits of ordinary people across America's diverse and vast landscapes.
