This monograph presents William Christenberry’s 35 mm Kodachrome photographs made from 1964 to 2007 in Hale County, Alabama. Focused on the rural Deep South, the work depicts back roads, open landscapes, rusted signs, and vernacular architecture, including recurring sites such as the red building in the forest, Sprott Church, the Palmist Sign, and the Bar-B-Q Inn. The portable camera enabled Christenberry to revisit longstanding subjects while making photographs from new perspectives.
