This monograph marks the fortieth anniversary of Nicholas Nixon’s ongoing annual portrait series of his wife, Bebe, and her sisters Heather, Mimi, and Laurie Brown. Begun in 1975, the project gathers the four women for a portrait each year, photographed with an 8 × 10-inch view camera. The book reproduces all forty portraits in tri-tone and includes an afterword by curator Sarah Hermanson Meister addressing the series’ exhibitions, critical reception, and following.
