This monograph surveys Sergey Chilikov’s work from 1978 onward, including series made during his travels through cities in the Soviet Union after 1989. It features Photo Provocations, The Countryside Glam, The Beach, The Gambling, and The Philosophy of a Journey, photographs that explore the hidden eroticism of rural people amid depressed surroundings. The book also situates Chilikov within the FACT group and the nonconformist photography scene in Yoshkar-Ola and Moscow.
