For over thirty years, Hiroshi Sugimoto has journeyed globally to document the seas, transforming them into a meditation on time and the earth's primordial elements—water and air. His "Seascapes" collection features photographs consistently composed with a horizon line that bisects each image, highlighting the distinct encounter between sea and sky. This volume, the second in a series focusing on Sugimoto's work, includes over 200 Seascapes, some published for the first time. Born in Tokyo, Sugimoto trained in Los Angeles and has been a photographer since the 1970s, with other series such as Dioramas and Theaters.
