Chris Killip's book captures life on Lynemouth seacoal beach in northeast England, where he began photographing in 1982. After gaining consent from the community, Killip lived in a caravan at the seacoal camp from 1983 to 1984 to document the daily struggles and work of its people. This project showcases his objective documentary style, featuring 124 images, 50 of which debuted in 1984 at Newcastle's Side Gallery. The book also includes photos that contributed to his influential work, "In Flagrante," published in 1988, highlighting the area's social and economic reality through a powerful visual narrative.
