This expanded reissue of Lynne Cohen’s 1987 monograph presents photographs made over two decades during the 1970s and 1980s. Using a view camera, Cohen examines classrooms, laboratories, testing facilities, waiting rooms, offices, reception areas, party rooms, motel rooms, and killing chambers—interiors shaped by standardization, simulated experience, and social engineering. The book includes more than fifteen previously unpublished images from the period and a new text by Britt Salvesen.
