This monograph presents Simone Nieweg’s photographs of agricultural cultivation made over the preceding decade. Its subjects range from small market gardens, vegetable beds, and fruit trees to pastures, fallow land, forest margins, arable land, and grain fields. Working in soft, nearly shadowless light and using long exposures on windless days, Nieweg records plants and cultivated landscapes in fine detail. The photographs explore the relationship between nature and human civilization. The book includes an introduction by Heinz Liesbrock.
