This monograph surveys Mitch Epstein’s American Power (2003–9), Property Rights (2017–20), and Old Growth (2020–24), examining resource extraction, environmental damage, local resistance, and ancient forests in the United States. It also presents two multimedia works: Forest Waves, an installation focused on Massachusetts’s virgin forest, and Clear Cut, incorporating early twentieth-century photographs by Darius Kinsey of deforestation in the American Northwest. Together, the projects address networks of production and power, climate change, environmental protest, and enduring natural landscapes.
