The book explores the life and work of Josef Sudek, renowned Czech photographer often called the "poet of Prague." It covers his evolution from Modernism to his distinctive style, focusing on his most productive middle-aged years. During the 1930s, Sudek's photographs capture the external world, but by the 1940s, he turned inward to develop his unique creative path. His celebrated work, featuring views through his studio window with still life arrangements, was produced during this time. Despite the challenges of WWII and postwar pressures, including socialist realism, Sudek maintained the continuity of his photographic oeuvre.
