This monograph presents the first volume of Pixy Liao’s Experimental Relationship, made from 2007 to 2017. Centered on Liao’s relationship with her boyfriend, Moro, who is five years younger, the photographs examine reversed expectations of age, authority, and power within heterosexual couples. Through staged photographic experiments, Liao explores alternatives to standardized gender roles, the possibility of establishing a new equilibrium between partners, and her changing understanding of intimate relationships over time.
