This monograph presents Ignacio Acosta’s Copper Geographies, eight series organized around copper’s global mobility, post-industrial landscapes, and the contemporary mining industry’s relationship with London. Maps, photographs, and analytical texts trace copper from extraction in Chile’s Atacama Desert through smelting, commodity trading, manufacturing, consumption, and waste, connecting sites in Chile and Britain. The project forms part of Traces of Nitrate, a University of Brighton research collaboration with art and design historian Louise Purbrick and photographer Xavier Ribas, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
