This exhibition catalogue surveys Andreas Gursky’s photographs, including two groups of works on Formula 1 races and the Arirang Festival, a choreographed mass spectacle in Pyongyang, North Korea. It situates these images among his large-scale photographs of supermarket goods, crowds, refuse, architecture, and nature, whose digitally restructured detail moves between representation and abstraction. The works were exhibited at the Kunstmuseum Basel in winter 2007/2008.
