This photobook documents Kolodozero, a small village cluster around a lake on the border of Karelia and Russia’s Arkhangelsk region. Made over successive winters, spring, summer, and autumn, Aleksey Myakishev’s photographs portray residents living through forestry work, subsistence farming, fishing, hunting, and metal collecting, alongside people who have left city life for the village. The project also observes the surrounding landscape and Father Arkady, whose stories frame Kolodozero as a place of memory, seasonal cycles, and belonging.
