This book brings together the works of German photographer Joachim Brohm and American photographer Alec Soth, focusing on their iconic series based in river regions. Brohm’s Ruhr series (1980–83) and Soth’s Sleeping by the Mississippi (2000–04) are central, exploring life along these rivers. Additionally, the book includes Brohm's Ohio, Dessau Files, and Culatra, and Soth's Songbook and Niagara, which present imagined locales for a wider understanding of their work. Notably, Brohm’s portrait series Flash Ohio (1984) is published for the first time. Essays by Vince Leo and Wolfgang Ullrich offer further analysis.
