"In My Mind There is Never Silence" by Diego Moreno explores the psychological depth of domestic life and the complexity of childhood through the lens of ancestral tradition. Rooted in the 500-year-old ritual of the Panzudos Mercedarios in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, the project reinterprets these grotesque sin-bearing figures by placing them in intimate, everyday spaces. Blending Catholic and pre-Hispanic symbols with contemporary elements like Halloween masks and Chinese fabrics, Moreno examines Mexico’s cultural syncretism. Through staged photographs and personal symbolism, the series offers a modern reflection on guilt, identity, and the evolving imagination of Mexican society.
