"Eyes as Big as Plates" by Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen is a collaborative project that blends photography and sculpture to explore human connections to nature. Originally inspired by Nordic folklore, the series features people from various backgrounds—retired farmers, fishermen, zoologists, and others—each dressed in wearable sculptures crafted from natural materials, inhabiting diverse landscapes. The book contains portraits, field notes, and essays documenting 60 global shoots. Since 2011, it has gained international recognition through notable media coverage and a successful Kickstarter campaign, highlighting its universal and artistic reach.
