"Barakei," a collaboration between photographer Eikoh Hosoe and author Yukio Mishima, presents a provocative series of portraits taken in 1961. Captured in Mishima's garden, the images depict Mishima, partially clothed with a hose artfully wrapped around him, framed by a marble zodiac mosaic. The title "Barakei," translated as "Killed by Roses," reflects the enigmatic nature of the work. Originally designed by Kohei Sugiura, the photobook's notable editions were aligned with Mishima's life events. This limited reissue of 1963's original edition, a joint project with NADiff and Aperture, comprises 500 signed, numbered copies, marking a significant cultural artifact.
