For over a decade, Dutch photographer Bert Teunissen has captured the essence of old European homes and the elderly inhabitants within, exploring their unique, light-drenched atmospheres reminiscent of a bygone era. His monograph, "Domestic Landscapes," presents intimate portraits of residences built before the World Wars, characterized by natural light and ornate details like ancestral portraits and home-cured hams. These images, taken in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Portugal, echo the techniques of Vermeer and Rembrandt, blending cultural documentation with portraiture to preserve a fading lifestyle and architectural heritage.
