Daido Moriyama, born in Osaka in 1938, is a pivotal figure in the evolution of international photographic language since the 1970s. His work defies conventional photography norms, championing an aesthetic of spontaneity and bodily engagement over visual precision. Known for high-contrast, grainy images and unconventional framing, Moriyama's photography captures fleeting urban moments, creating an abstract and disorienting poetic. This book, introduced by Gabriel Bauret, showcases 86 black-and-white photographs in duotone. Moriyama’s approach has liberated photographic expression, influencing many artists worldwide. He also contributes to thematic and retrospective exhibitions globally as a professor at ENSAD in Paris.
