Belgian artist Anton Kusters' "The Blue Skies Project" captures 1078 Polaroid photos of the blue skies above former Nazi concentration camps and killing centers across Europe, documenting a fading collective memory of trauma. Between 1933 and 1945, these camps operated for 4432 days under a regime of imprisonment, forced labor, and extermination. Kusters photographed the last known location of each site, noting the number of victims and GPS coordinates beneath each image. This poignant work was nominated for the Prix Pictet 2019 and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2020. Curated by Monica Allende, the exhibition features a 13-year tracking audio/visual piece by Ruben Samama.
